Crescent Fort Rouge United Church (525 Wardlaw Avenue)
Come sing “tra-la-la” with us at our FREE, annual Dead of Winter holiday sing-along! Conductor Vic Pankratz and singers will be joined by Spencer Duncanson and the changed voices division of the Winnipeg Boys Choir, performing both classic and contemporary holiday music, including a couple of special Georgian carols curated by Matthew Knight. As is our tradition, we offer free admission to our holiday concert, and we ask that you bring a food donation for Manitoba Harvest.
Please also note: Although we are offering this concert free of charge, it does come at considerable cost to our organization (performer fees, venue rental, marketing, etc.). We encourage like-minded patrons to help out by making a contribution small or large to allow us to continue offering this gorgeous music for free to everyone during the holiday season. A donation option will display when you are completing the reservation of your ticket, OR, you can make a contribution by clicking here. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

ADDITIONAL TEXT AND TRANSLATIONS
Rorate caeli — William Byrd
Rorate caeli desuper et nubes pluant iustum.
Aperiatur terra et germinet salvatorem.
Benedixisti Domine terram tuam,
avertisti captivitatem Jacob.
Gloria Patri et Filio et Spiritui Sancto,
sicut erat in principio et nunc et semper
et in saecula saeculorum. Amen.
—————
Drop dew ye heavens from above, and let the clouds rain the just:
be the earth opened, and bud forth a saviour.
O Lord thou hast blessed thy land:
thou hast turned away the captivity of Jacob.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost,
as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be
world without end. Amen.
Tollite portas — William Byrd
Tollite portas principes vestras, et elevamini portae aeternales,
et introibit rex gloriae.
Quis ascendet in montem Domini, aut quis stabit in loco sancto ejus?
Innocens manibus et mundo corde,
Alleluia.
—————
Raise up, your gates, your captains, and be lifted up, you everlasting gates
and the king of glory shall come in.
Who shall ascend to the mountain of the Lord, or who shall stand in his holy place?
The one whose hands are clean and heart pure.
Alleluia.
Kartlian Alilo

99 Alilo (Christmas Carol)
On the twenty-fifth of this month,
Christ was born, Alilo, boys.
Let those who bring this news be blessed,
May God give you everything.
Let those who bring this news be blessed,
It’s Christmas morning, Alilo, boys.
Let those who bring this news be blessed,
May God give you everything.
House, you are built for feasting and for enjoyment,
Alilo, boys.
Let those who bring this news be blessed,
May God give you everything.

May God grant you many new years to come

3. The bird flew high in the air and it few far away
If any of your family members are far away,
may they soon come back to you
4. Now I have to leave, and I will come back in a year
O Magnum Mysterium — arr. by Andrew Balfour
O magnum mysterium,
et admirabile sacramentum,
ut animalia viderent Dominum natum, iacentem in praesepio!
Alleluia!
—————
O great mystery,
and wonderful sacrament,
that animals should see the newborn Lord, lying in the manger!
Alleluia
—————
Between the ox and the grey donkey
Sleeps, sleeps, sleeps the little son,
A thousand divine angels, a thousand seraphim
Fly around this great God of love.
Between the two arms of Mary
Sleeps, sleeps, sleeps the fruit of life,
A thousand divine angels, a thousand seraphim
Fly around this great God of love.
Amidst the gentle shepherds
Sleeps, sleeps Jesus who smiles,
A thousand divine angels, a thousand seraphim
Fly around this great God of love.
